तत्पुनर्भूसुरे दत्वा व्रतांते तस्य भोजनम् । कार्तिकव्रतिनं विप्र यथोक्तकारिणं नरम्

അത് വീണ്ടും ഭൂസുരനായ ബ്രാഹ്മണനു നൽകി, വ്രതാന്തത്തിൽ ആ പുരുഷനു ഭോജനം കൊടുക്കണം—ഹേ വിപ്ര—യഥോക്തമായി കാർത്തികവ്രതം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചവനു.
