Narration of the Greatness of Harivāsara
Ekādaśī, the Day Sacred to Hari
bhavaṃti nātra saṃdeho sarvaprāṇibhayaṃkarāḥ | vratānāṃ caiva sarveṣāṃ śreṣṭhāṃ caikādaśīṃ śubhām
Unspecified (context-dependent within Brahma-khaṇḍa Adhyaya 15)
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
It explicitly ranks Ekādaśī as the foremost (śreṣṭhā) among all vratas and calls it auspicious (śubhā).
The verse states ‘they become fear-causing to all beings,’ but without surrounding verses the referent of ‘they’ cannot be fixed with certainty; it depends on the immediate Adhyaya context.
It promotes observing Ekādaśī as a highly esteemed religious discipline within the broader culture of vrata (vowed observances), emphasizing its exceptional status.
