Narratorial colophon (chapter-ending editorial voice; not a dialogue utterance)

Application: Use as a structural marker: the chapter’s teachings (nāma-amṛta + pitṛtīrtha) are to be remembered as a complete unit—helpful for parāyaṇa (systematic reading).

Primary Rasa: shanta

Type: tirtha

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A palm-leaf manuscript lies open on a low wooden stand, the final colophon line freshly inked, while a temple lamp flickers beside it. In the background, a faint montage shows a sacred ford for ancestors—steps descending into calm water—suggesting the chapter’s completed journey from narrative to tīrtha-glory.","primary_figures":["scribe (optional)","anonymous reciter (optional)"],"setting":"Quiet manuscript room or temple library (grantha-bhaṇḍāra) with a glimpse of a river-ghāṭ beyond an archway.","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["lamp amber","palm-leaf tan","ink black","deep maroon","river green"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: ornate manuscript stand with gold-leaf borders, a bright brass oil lamp, temple pillars with carved motifs, a small framed vignette of Pitṛtīrtha ghāṭ in the background, rich reds and greens, embossed gold detailing emphasizing the sacred text’s authority.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate scene of a scholar finishing a manuscript colophon, soft indoor light, delicate rendering of palm leaves and ink pot, through a window a serene ghāṭ and water steps, cool muted palette with fine linework and gentle realism.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized manuscript and lamp as central icons, bold outlines, decorative borders, a simplified ghāṭ motif behind, red/yellow/green pigments, temple-wall composition emphasizing sacred completion.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central manuscript framed by lotus and floral borders, small ghāṭ and water motifs repeated in the border pattern, deep blue background with gold highlights, intricate ornamental symmetry, devotional textile aesthetic."}

FAQs

It is a colophon marking the conclusion of Adhyaya 73 and naming the sectional context: Bhūmi-khaṇḍa, Vena narrative, and the description of Pitṛtīrtha within the Yayāti account.

It indicates that the chapter’s topic includes a description of a sacred tīrtha associated with the Pitṛs (ancestors), typically connected with rites such as offerings for ancestors and the sanctity of the place.

Not directly; as a chapter-ending colophon it primarily provides textual organization and thematic labeling, while the ethical/devotional teaching would be in the preceding narrative content of the chapter.
