FAQs

After offering respectful obeisance to a revered brāhmaṇa, the person departs with Mātali to his own city to visit his father and mother.

It highlights reverence toward learned brāhmaṇas (dvija-śreṣṭha) and filial duty—going to see and honor one’s parents.

Mātali is traditionally known as Indra’s charioteer in Purāṇic literature; the verse indicates the journey is undertaken in his company.
