yastu sarvāṇi ratnāni brāhmaṇebhyaḥ prayacchati | tena dattena deveśi yogo labhyeta vā na vā || 168 ||
Narada (teaching in a dialogue addressed to a Devi as 'Deveshi')
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches that even lavish charity—like gifting gems—does not automatically produce yoga; inner purity, right intention, and spiritual discipline are decisive.
By implying that external offerings alone are insufficient, it points toward heartfelt surrender and devotion as the inner force that turns righteous action into spiritual realization.
It reflects Dharma-śāstric ritual ethics (proper dāna to qualified recipients like brāhmaṇas) rather than a technical Vedanga; the practical takeaway is that correct giving must be joined with sādhana to yield higher spiritual fruit.
