The Lamentation Concerning Yama

मातृहा प्रोच्यते सद्भिर्वृथा तस्यैव जीवितम् । एका हि वीरसूरेव विरंचे नात्र संशयः ॥ १४ ॥

mātṛhā procyate sadbhirvṛthā tasyaiva jīvitam | ekā hi vīrasūreva viraṃce nātra saṃśayaḥ || 14 ||

സദ്ജനങ്ങൾ അവനെ ‘മാതൃഹാ’ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ജീവിതം തീർച്ചയായും വ്യർത്ഥം. ഹേ വിരഞ്ചാ! വീരനെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്ന മാതാവ് ഒരുത്തിയേ—ഇതിൽ സംശയമില്ല.
