Adhyaya 77 — Sanjna’s Withdrawal from Surya: The Birth of Yama and Yamuna, and the Emergence of Chhaya
इत्थं विवस्वतः सा तु बहुशः पृच्छतो यदा ।
नाचचक्षे ततो क्रुद्धो भास्वांस्तां शप्तुमुद्यतः ॥
itthaṃ vivasvataḥ sā tu bahuśaḥ pṛcchato yadā / nācacakṣe tato kruddho bhāsvāṃs tāṃ śaptum udyataḥ
ഇങ്ങനെ വിവസ്വാൻ അവളോട് വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചിട്ടും അവൾ സത്യം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ല. അപ്പോൾ തേജസ്സുള്ള സൂര്യൻ കോപിച്ച് അവളെ ശപിക്കാൻ ഒരുങ്ങി.
