Adhyaya 27 — Madalasa's Teaching III
स कौमारकमासाद्य ऋतध्वजसुतस्ततः ।
कृतोपनयनः प्राज्ञः प्रणिपत्याह मातरम् ॥
sa kaumārakam āsādya ṛtadhvaja-sutas tataḥ | kṛtopanayanaḥ prājñaḥ praṇipatya āha mātaram ||
അപ്പോൾ ഋതധ്വജന്റെ പുത്രൻ കൗമാരാവസ്ഥയിലെത്തി ഉപനയനസംസ്കാരം നിർവഹിച്ചു; ആ ജ്ഞാനി മാതാവിനെ പ്രണാമം ചെയ്ത് ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു।

Upanayana is portrayed as a pivot into disciplined responsibility, paired with humility (praṇipāta). Wisdom is inseparable from reverence and readiness to be instructed.

Upanayana (‘leading near’) signifies turning the mind toward the light of knowledge; bowing to the mother acknowledges prakṛti as the first guru—discipline begins with gratitude.
