Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic acknowledgment of relationships: a righteous king publicly accepts and protects a lawful marital bond, emphasizing responsibility toward a daughter-in-law and the maintenance of social and familial order.

In the Virāṭa court context, Yudhiṣṭhira is present in a dignified, Indra-like bearing and formally receives/acknowledges Uttarā as the family’s daughter-in-law, confirming her status within the Kuru-Pāṇḍava line.
