Śamī-vṛkṣe śastra-nidhāna and Entry into Virāṭa’s Capital (शमीवृक्षे शस्त्रनिधानम्)
अर्जुनने कहा--राजन्! श्मशानभूमिके समीप एक टीलेपर यह शमीका बहुत बड़ा सघन वृक्ष है। इसकी शाखाएँ बड़ी भयानक हैं, इससे इसपर चढ़ना कठिन है
arjuna uvāca—rājan! śmaśānabhūmeḥ samīpe ekasmin ṭīle eṣā śamī bahu-vṛhatī gāḍha-vṛkṣaḥ. asyāḥ śākhāḥ ati-bhayānakāḥ; ataḥ asmin ārohaṇaṃ duṣkaram.
അർജുനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! ശ്മശാനഭൂമിയുടെ സമീപം ഒരു കുന്നിൻമേൽ ഈ ശമീമരം അതിവിശാലവും സാന്ദ്രവുമാണ്. ഇതിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകൾ ഭയാനകമാണ്; അതിനാൽ ഇതിൽ കയറുക ദുഷ്കരം.
