मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Moral power grounded in character (śīla) is portrayed as protective: a virtuous person can become the means of deliverance for others, as exemplified by Sāvitrī and here predicted of Draupadī.
Mārkaṇḍeya reassures the listeners (the Pāṇḍavas and their companions in context) by declaring that Draupadī, renowned for her conduct, will be the cause of their rescue from a looming crisis, paralleling Sāvitrī’s famed act of saving her husband and family line.
