शशंस रावणस्तस्मै तत् सर्व रामचेष्टितम् । समासेनैव कार्याणि क्रोधामर्षसमन्वित:,रावण क्रोध और अमर्षमें भरा हुआ था। उसने एक-एक करके रामद्वारा किये हुए सब कार्य संक्षेपसे कह सुनाये
śaśaṃsa rāvaṇas tasmai tat sarva rāmacēṣṭitam | samāsenaiva kāryāṇi krodhāmarṣa-samanvitaḥ ||
ക്രോധവും അപമാനബോധവും നിറഞ്ഞ രാവണൻ, രാമൻ ചെയ്ത എല്ലാ പ്രവർത്തികളും സംക്ഷിപ്തമായി— എങ്കിലും ക്രമത്തിൽ— അവനോട് വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse underscores an ethical insight: when one is driven by krodha (anger) and amarṣa (wounded pride/resentment), even factual narration becomes colored by hostility. Self-control and humility are implied virtues, since they preserve clarity and fairness in speech.
In Markandeya’s narration, Ravana—agitated and resentful—summarizes for someone (tasmai) the full range of Rama’s deeds and initiatives, presenting them concisely and in order.
