Even amid conflict, dharma can require restraint and protection of kin: Arjuna seeks to prevent excessive harm and insists on a principled resolution rather than allowing enemies to humiliate or destroy his brother.
In the forest episode where Gandharvas have overpowered Duryodhana, Arjuna confronts them in battle and, after engaging them, speaks to them to release Duryodhana, asserting his duty to safeguard his brother despite political enmity.
