आपतद्धिम्महावेगैश्षित्रसेनस्य सैनिकै: | परम बुद्धिमान सूतपुत्र कर्णके द्वारा ज्यों-ज्यों गन्धर्वोपर मार पड़ने लगी, त्यों-ही-त्यों वे सैकड़ों और हजारोंकी संख्यामें वहाँ आ-आकर एकत्र होने लगे। इस प्रकार चित्रसेनके अत्यन्त वेगशाली सैनिकोंके आनेसे क्षणभरमें वहाँकी सारी पृथ्वी गन्धर्वमयी हो गयी

Transliteration

āpata-dhiṁ mahā-vegaiś citrasenasya sainikaiḥ | parama-buddhimān sūta-putraḥ karṇaḥ yathā-yathā gandharvopari māraṁ prāpnoti tathā-tathā te śataśaḥ sahasraśaś ca tatra āgatya ekatrī-bhavanti | evaṁ citrasenasya atyanta-vegāḥ sainikāḥ āgacchantaḥ kṣaṇa-mātreṇa tatra sarvā pṛthivī gandharva-mayī babhūva ||

Translation

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ചിത്രസേനന്റെ അതിവേഗമുള്ള സൈനികർ ഒഴുകിയെത്തി. പരമബുദ്ധിമാനായ സൂതപുത്രൻ കർണ്ണൻ ഗന്ധർവരെ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും പ്രഹരിക്കുന്നതോടെ, അവർയും നൂറുകളായും ആയിരങ്ങളായും അവിടെ എത്തി കൂട്ടംകൂടി. ഇങ്ങനെ ചിത്രസേനന്റെ അതിവേഗദളങ്ങളുടെ വരവോടെ ഒരു ക്ഷണത്തിൽ തന്നെ ആ ഭൂമി മുഴുവൻ ഗന്ധർവമയമായിത്തോന്നി।
