दानवैरर्दितं सैन्यं देवानां विमुखं बभौ । बहुत-से योद्धा
dāna vair arditaṃ sainyaṃ devānāṃ vimukhaṃ babhau |
മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ദാനവന്മാർ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചതിനാൽ ദേവന്മാരുടെ സൈന്യം യുദ്ധത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വിമുഖമായി. അനേകം യോദ്ധാക്കളും ആനകളും കുതിരകളും വെട്ടിവീഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടു; അസംഖ്യ ആയുധങ്ങളും മഹത്തായ രഥങ്ങളും തുണ്ടുതുണ്ടായി തകർന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെ ദാനവാക്രമണത്തിൽ ദേവസേന ധൈര്യം നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തി പിൻവാങ്ങി.
