द्वैतवन-सरः प्रवेशविघ्नः
Dvaītavana Lake: Obstructed Entry
यजन्ति पुत्रकामाश्च पुत्रिणश्व सदा जना: । इसीलिये भूतलके मनुष्य स्कन्दको कुमार-ग्रहोंका पिता कहते हैं। भिन्न-भिन्न स्थानोंमें पुत्रवान् तथा पुत्रकी इच्छा रखनेवाले मनुष्य अग्निस्वरूप रुद्र और स्वाहास्वरूपा महाबलवती उमाकी सदा आराधना करते हैं
yajanti putrakāmāś ca putriṇaś ca sadā janāḥ |
മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പുത്രം ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരും പുത്രവാന്മാരും—ഇരുവിധ ജനങ്ങളും നിത്യവും യജനവും ആരാധനയും നടത്തുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഭൂമിയിലെ മനുഷ്യർ സ്കന്ദനെ ‘കുമാര-ഗ്രഹങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവ്’ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു. കൂടാതെ പല ദേശങ്ങളിലും മനുഷ്യർ അഗ്നിരൂപനായ രുദ്രനെയും, സ്വാഹാരൂപിണിയായ മഹാബലവതി ഉമയെയും നിത്യമായി ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.
