स्कन्दोपाख्यानम् — उत्पातशान्तिः, स्वाहारूपविचारः, कौमारमङ्गलक्रियाः
व्याध उवाच पिता माता च भगवन्नेतौ मद्दैवतं परम् । यद् दैवतेभ्य: कर्तव्यं तदेताभ्यां करोम्पयहम्,धर्मव्याध बोला--भगवन्! ये माता-पिता ही मेरे प्रधान देवता हैं। जो कुछ देवताओंके लिये करना चाहिये, वह मैं इन्हीं दोनोंके लिये करता हूँ
vyādha uvāca | pitā mātā ca bhagavann etau mad-daivataṃ param | yad daivatebhyaḥ kartavyaṃ tad etābhyāṃ karomy aham ||
വ്യാധൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ ഭഗവൻ! ഈ പിതാവും മാതാവും—ഇവരാണ് എനിക്ക് പരമദൈവം. ദേവന്മാർക്കായി ചെയ്യേണ്ട സേവനം ഏതാണോ, അതേ സേവനം ഞാൻ ഇവർക്കു രണ്ടുപേർക്കും ചെയ്യുന്നു.”
