आकाशं तदपानीयं घोरं कान्तारदर्शनम् । न तत्र वृक्षच्छाया वा पानीयं केतनानि च
ākāśaṃ tadapānīyaṃ ghoraṃ kāntāradarśanam | na tatra vṛkṣacchāyā vā pānīyaṃ ketanāni ca ||
“ആ പ്രദേശം ജലരഹിതം, ആകാശംപോലെ ശൂന്യം; ദർശനത്തിൽ തന്നെ ഭയാനകമായ കാന്താരപ്രദേശമായി തോന്നുന്നു. അവിടെ വൃക്ഷനിഴലുമില്ല, കുടിവെള്ളവുമില്ല, വാസസ്ഥലങ്ങളോ ആശ്രയങ്ങളോ ഒന്നുമില്ല.”
