उत्तङ्कोपाख्यानप्रारम्भः — Uttanka’s Tapas, Viṣṇu-stuti, and the Dhundhumāra Prophecy

Opening

हा मातस्तात पुत्रेति तास्ता वाच: सुदारुणा: । विक्रोशमानान्‌ सुभृशं दस्यून्‌ नेष्यति संक्षयम्‌,उस समय चोर और लुटेरे दर्दभरी वाणीमें “हाय मैया”, “हाय बप्पा” और “हाय बेटा' इत्यादि कहकर जोर-जोरसे चीत्कार करेंगे और उन सबका भगवान्‌ कल्‍की विनाश कर डालेंगे। भारत! दस्युओंके नष्ट हो जानेपर अधर्मका भी नाश हो जायगा और धर्मकी वृद्धि होने लगेगी। इस प्रकार सत्ययुग आ जानेपर सब मनुष्य सत्यकर्मपरायण होंगे

hā mātas tāta putreti tāstā vācaḥ sudāruṇāḥ | vikrośamānān subhṛśaṃ dasyūn neṣyati saṃkṣayam ||

“അയ്യോ അമ്മേ! അയ്യോ അച്ഛാ! അയ്യോ മകനേ!” എന്നിങ്ങനെ അത്യന്തം കരുണയും ദാരുണതയും നിറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകളാൽ ഉച്ചത്തിൽ നിലവിളിക്കുന്ന ദസ്യുക്കളെ (ഭഗവാൻ) കൽക്കി നാശത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കും.

Educational Q&A

The verse frames social collapse (lawless banditry) as a symptom of adharma, and teaches that the restoration of dharma requires the removal of predatory forces; once adharma is checked, truthful and righteous conduct can flourish again.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes a future time of turmoil when marauders cry out in terror and grief; a divinely empowered figure, Kalki, destroys them, after which adharma declines and dharma grows, ushering in a renewed age of truth.
