नौस्थश्न मां प्रतीक्षेथास्ततो मुनिजनप्रिय । आगमिष्याम्यहं शुद्भी विज्ञेयस्तेन तापस,“मुनिजनोंके प्रेमी तपस्वी नरेश! उस नावमें बैठे रहकर आप मेरी प्रतीक्षा कीजियेगा। मैं आपके पास अपने मस्तकमें सींग धारण किये आऊँगा। उसीसे आप मुझे पहचान लेंगे। इस प्रकार यह सब कार्य आपको करना है। अब मैं आपसे आज्ञा चाहता हूँ और यहाँसे जाता हूँ। उस महान् जलराशिको आपलोग मेरी सहायताके बिना पार नहीं कर सकेंगे
nausthaś ca māṃ pratīkṣethās tato munijanapriya | āgamiṣyāmy ahaṃ śṛṅgī vijñeyas tena tāpasa ||
മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മുനിജനപ്രിയനായ തപസ്വി രാജാവേ, വഞ്ചിയിൽ ഇരുന്ന് എന്നെ കാത്തിരിക്കൂ. ഞാൻ ശിരസ്സിൽ ശൃംഗം ധരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വരും; ആ ലക്ഷണത്താൽ എന്നെ തിരിച്ചറിയുക. പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ തന്നെ ചെയ്യുക. ഇനി നിങ്ങളുടെ അനുവാദം വാങ്ങി ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ നിന്ന് പുറപ്പെടുന്നു—എന്റെ സഹായമില്ലാതെ ഈ മഹാജലരാശി നിങ്ങൾക്ക് കടക്കാനാവില്ല.
