The Slaying of Yavakrīta at Raibhya’s Hermitage
tatastaṃ samupāsthāya kṛtyā sṛṣṭā mahātmanā | kamaṇḍaluṃ jahārāsya mohayitveva bhārata ||

The verse highlights how unethical retaliation and occult violence operate through delusion and deceit; when one departs from dharma, even sacred supports (like an ascetic’s kamaṇḍalu) can be lost, and confusion becomes the doorway to ruin.
A kṛtyā—sent forth by a powerful person—approaches the target, bewilders him, and steals his kamaṇḍalu. This theft is a tactical step in the larger act of vengeance unfolding in the episode.
