Somaka–Jantu Ākhyāna: Desire-Driven Sacrifice and Shared Karmic Consequence

हा हता: स्मेति वाशन्त्यस्तीव्रशोकसमाहता: । रुदन्त्य: करुणं वापि गृहीत्वा दक्षिणे करे

hā hatāḥ smeti vāśantyastīvrāśokasamāhatāḥ | rudantyaḥ karuṇaṃ vāpi gṛhītvā dakṣiṇe kare

തീവ്രശോകത്തിൽ തകർന്നു അവർ നിലവിളിച്ചു— “അയ്യോ! ഞങ്ങൾ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു!” എന്നും; കരുണയായി കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അവനെ വലങ്കയ്യിൽ പിടിച്ചുനിന്നു।
