The Birth and Career Account of Māndhātṛ
न युक्तमिति तं॑ प्राह भगवान् भार्गवस्तदा । सुतार्थ स्थापिता ह्यापस्तपसा चैव सम्भूता:,तब भगवान् च्यवनने कहा--“महान् बल और पराक्रमसे सम्पन्न राजर्षि युवनाश्व! यह तुमने ठीक नहीं किया। इस कलभमें मैंने तुम्हें ही पुत्र प्रदान करनेके लिये तपस्यासे संस्कारयुक्त किया हुआ जल रखा था और कठोर तपस्या करके उसमें ब्रह्मतेजकी स्थापना की थी
na yuktam iti taṁ prāha bhagavān bhārgavas tadā | sutārthaṁ sthāpitā hy āpas tapasā caiva sambhūtāḥ ||
അപ്പോൾ ഭഗവാൻ ഭാര്ഗവനായ ച്യവനൻ അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞു—“ഇത് യുക്തമല്ല. പുത്രാർത്ഥമായി ആ ജലം തപസ്സാൽ സംസ്കരിച്ചതാണ്; കഠിന തപസ്സാൽ അതിൽ ബ്രഹ്മതേജസ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
