तेन कामात्‌ कृतं भिथ्या ब्राह्मणस्येति न: श्रुति: । स ब्राह्मणै: परित्यक्तस्ततो वै जगत: पति:,उन्होंने जान-बूझकर एक ब्राह्मणके साथ मिथ्या व्यवहार किया--यह बात हमारे सुननेमें आयी है। इसी अपराधके कारण ब्राह्मणोंने राजा लोमपादको त्याग दिया था। राजाने पुरोहितपर मनमाना दोषारोपण किया था, इसलिये इन्द्रने उनके राज्यमें वर्षा बंद कर दी। इस अनावृष्टिके कारण प्रजाको बड़ा कष्ट होने लगा

tena kāmāt kṛtaṃ mithyā brāhmaṇasyeti naḥ śrutiḥ | sa brāhmaṇaiḥ parityaktas tato vai jagataḥ patiḥ ||

കാമവശനായി അവൻ ഒരു ബ്രാഹ്മണനോടു ജ്ഞാനപൂർവ്വം അസത്യമായി പെരുമാറിയെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആ അപരാധം മൂലം ബ്രാഹ്മണർ ആ—ജനങ്ങളുടെ അധിപതിയെ—പരിത്യജിച്ചു.
