Ṛśyaśṛṅgopākhyāna-praveśaḥ — Lomāśa narrates the origins of Ṛśyaśṛṅga and the Anga drought (ऋश्यशृङ्गोपाख्यान-प्रवेशः)

Educational Q&A

The verse probes the link between a ruler’s dharma and the wellbeing of the realm: even if a king is reputed righteous, drought suggests some lapse, imbalance, or unresolved moral cause that must be understood and corrected.

Yudhiṣṭhira asks why Indra withheld rain in King Lomapāda’s kingdom despite Lomapāda’s reputation as a dharmic rājārṣi, setting up an explanation of the underlying cause within the Śāntā–Ṛṣyaśṛṅga-related episode.
