Pātāla-varṇana (Nārada’s Description of the Netherworld) / पातालवर्णनम्
मार्गमें जाते हुए नारदजीके इस प्रकार पूछनेपर मातलिने उनसे अपना सारा कार्य यथावत््रूपसे बताया ।। तमुवाचाथ स मुनिर्गच्छाव: सहिताविति । सलिलेशदिदृक्षार्थमहमप्युद्यतो दिव:,तब उन मुनिने मातलिसे कहा--'हम दोनों साथ-साथ चलें। मैं भी जलके स्वामी वरुणदेवका दर्शन करनेकी इच्छासे देवलोकसे आ रहा हूँ
tam uvāca atha sa muniḥ—gacchāvaḥ sahitāv iti | salileśa-didṛkṣārtham aham api udyato divaḥ |
അപ്പോൾ ആ മുനി മാതലിയോട് പറഞ്ഞു—“വരിക, നാം ഇരുവരും ഒരുമിച്ച് പോകാം. ഞാനും ദേവലോകത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ജലാധിപനായ വരുണദേവനെ ദർശിക്കാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹത്തോടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടതാണ്.”
