वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the verse itself teaches indirectly: even when righteous counsel and diplomatic effort are offered (Kṛṣṇa’s mission), refusal rooted in pride and greed can close the door to peace and set the stage for adharma-driven conflict.
Vaiśampāyana signals the completion of the chapter in the Udyoga Parva’s Bhagavadyāna section, specifying that it concerned the dialogue between Kṛṣṇa and Duryodhana—an episode central to the failed peace negotiations before the Kurukṣetra war.
