अध्याय ८७: कृष्णस्य हस्तिनापुरप्रवेशः

Krishna’s Entry into Hastināpura and Court Reception

देश: कालस्तथायुक्तो न हि नाहति केशव: । मंस्यत्यधोक्षजो राजन्‌ भयादर्चति मामिति,मैं इसलिये नहीं कहता कि श्रीकृष्ण उन वस्तुओंके अधिकारी नहीं हैं; अपितु इस दृष्टिसे मना कर रहा हूँ कि वर्तमान देश-काल इस योग्य नहीं है कि उनका विशेष सत्कार किया जाय। राजन्‌! इस समय तो श्रीकृष्ण यही समझेंगे कि यह डरके मारे मेरी पूजा कर रहा है

deśaḥ kālas tathāyukto na hi nāhati keśavaḥ | maṁsyaty adhokṣajo rājan bhayād arcati mām iti ||

ദുര്യോധനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ദേശവും കാലവും ഇപ്പോൾ യോജിച്ച നിലയിൽ ഇല്ല; കേശവൻ അയോഗ്യനാണെന്നല്ല. എന്നാൽ നിലവിലെ സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് പ്രത്യേക ബഹുമാനം അർപ്പിക്കാൻ യോജിച്ചതല്ല എന്ന നിലപാടിലാണ് ഞാൻ നിരാകരിക്കുന്നത്. രാജാവേ! അധോക്ഷജൻ (ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ) ‘ഭയത്താലാണ് ഇവൻ എന്നെ പൂജിക്കുന്നത്’ എന്ന് കരുതും.
