Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
वैशम्पायन उवाच ततो व्यपेततमसि सूर्य विमलवदगते । मैत्रे मुहूर्ते सम्प्राप्ते मृद्रर्चिेषि दिवाकरे
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: tato vyapetatamasi sūrye vimalavadgate, maitre muhūrte samprāpte mṛdvarciṣi divākare.
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അതിനുശേഷം അന്ധകാരം നീങ്ങി; സൂര്യൻ നിർമലപ്രഭയോടെ ഉദിച്ചു. മൃദുകിരണങ്ങളുള്ള ദിവാകരൻ പ്രകാശിക്കുമ്പോൾ ‘മൈത്ര’ മുഹൂർത്തം എത്തി.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the traditional emphasis on kāla (right timing): actions—especially those with moral and political weight—are framed as best undertaken at a clear, auspicious moment, suggesting attentiveness to order, propriety, and readiness.
The narrator marks a transition into the next events: night has ended, the sun rises with gentle, pure light, and the Maitra muhūrta arrives—setting an auspicious temporal setting for what follows in the story.
