Udyoga Parva 63: Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Counsel Reminding Duryodhana of Opponent Strength
धूमायन्ते व्यपेतानि ज्वलन्ति सहितानि च । धृतराष्ट्रोल्मुकानीव ज्ञातयो भरतर्षभ
dhūmāyante vyapetāni jvalanti sahitāni ca | dhṛtarāṣṭrolmukānīva jñātayo bharatarṣabha ||
ഹേ ഭരതശ്രേഷ്ഠ ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രാ! കത്തുന്ന മരക്കഷണങ്ങളെ വേർതിരിച്ചാൽ ജ്വാല ഉയരുകയില്ല; പുക മാത്രം ഉയരും. അവയെ ഒന്നിച്ചു വെച്ചാൽ തീ കത്തിപ്പടരും. അതുപോലെ ബന്ധുക്കൾ പരസ്പര ഭേദം മൂലം പിരിഞ്ഞാൽ ദുർബലരാകും; ഒന്നിച്ചാൽ ബലവാനും തേജസ്വിയും ആകും।
