वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the verse does not add new doctrine; it frames the preceding dialogue as morally weighty counsel in a time of political crisis. By naming the negotiation context and the speakers (Karṇa and Bhīṣma), it highlights the ethical pressure points before war—how duty, loyalty, and honor are debated when peace is still possible.
The narrator marks the conclusion of the sixty-second chapter in the Udyoga Parva’s Yāna–Saṃdhi section, specifically the portion focused on the exchange between Karṇa and Bhīṣma. It is a formal closing line indicating that this unit of discussion has ended.
