यदा मन्द: परबाणान् विमुक्तान् ममेषुभिह्ठियमाणान् प्रतीपम् । तिर्यग्विध्याच्छिद्यमानान् पृषत्कै- स्तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्
yadā mandaḥ parabāṇān vimuktān mameṣubhiḥ pratīpaṃ nivāryamāṇān | tiryag vidhyāc chidyamānān pṛṣatkaiḥ tadā yuddhe dhārtarāṣṭro ’nutapsyati ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ശത്രുക്കൾ വിട്ട അമ്പുകൾ എന്റെ അമ്പുകൾ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടി തടഞ്ഞ് തിരിച്ചുദിശയിൽ മടങ്ങുന്നതും, അവരുടെ ശരസമൂഹം എന്റെ മറ്റു അമ്പുകൾ തിരശ്ചീനമായി തുളച്ച് മുറിഞ്ഞു കഷണങ്ങളാകുന്നതും അവൻ കാണുമ്പോൾ, ആ മന്ദബുദ്ധിയായ ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രപുത്രൻ യുദ്ധം ഉണർത്തിയതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് കഠിനമായ പശ്ചാത്താപത്തിൽ മുങ്ങും.
