वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how war gathers not only the young and ambitious but also revered elders and teachers. It points to the Mahābhārata’s ethical tension: personal virtue and past service can be entangled in flawed loyalties, making the conflict a test of dharma rather than a simple contest of strength.
Vaiśampāyana enumerates prominent Kaurava-aligned warriors and allies. This cataloging sets the stage for the impending Kurukṣetra war by indicating the formidable leadership and the complex network of vows, kinship, and political ties behind the Kaurava army.
