स्वास्तीर्णानि शयनानि प्रपन्ना न वै भिन्ना जातु निद्रां लभन्ते । न स्त्रीषु राजन् रतिमाप्रुवन्ति न मागधै: स्तूयमाना न सूतै:,राजन! आपसमें फूट रखनेवाले लोग अच्छे बिछौनोंसे युक्त पलंग पाकर भी कभी सुखकी नींद नहीं सोने पाते; उन्हें स्त्रियोंक पास रहकर तथा सूत-मागधोंद्वारा की हुई स्तुति सुनकर भी प्रसन्नता नहीं होती
svāstīrṇāni śayanāni prapannā na vai bhinnā jātu nidrāṁ labhante | na strīṣu rājan ratim āpruvanti na māgadhaiḥ stūyamānā na sūtaiḥ ||
രാജാവേ! സ്വന്തം ജനങ്ങളിൽ ഭിന്നത വളർത്തുന്നവർ, നന്നായി വിരിച്ച ശയനങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചാലും ഒരിക്കലും സുഖനിദ്ര നേടുകയില്ല. സ്ത്രീസാന്നിധ്യവും, മാഗധരും സൂതരും പാടുന്ന സ്തുതിയും അവരെ യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിപ്പിക്കില്ല।
