War-aversion, Desire as a Policy Fault, and Analysis of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Governance

अन्तं गत्वा कर्मणां मा प्रजह्मा: सत्यं दमं चार्जवमानृशंस्यम्‌ । अश्वमेधं राजसूयं तथेज्या: पापस्यान्तं कर्मणो मा पुनर्गा:

sañjaya uvāca |

antaṃ gatvā karmaṇāṃ mā prajahmāḥ satyaṃ damaṃ cārjavam ānṛśaṃsyam |

aśvamedhaṃ rājasūyaṃ tathejyaḥ pāpasyāntaṃ karmaṇo mā punargāḥ ||

സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—കർമ്മങ്ങളെ അവയുടെ യഥോചിത പര്യവസാനത്തിലേക്കെത്തിച്ചിട്ട് സത്യം, ദമം, ആർജവം, അനൃശംസത (കരുണ) എന്നിവ ഒരിക്കലും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുത്. അശ്വമേധം, രാജസൂയം മുതലായ യാഗകർമ്മങ്ങളും വിട്ടുകളയരുത്; എന്നാൽ യുദ്ധംപോലുള്ള പാപകർമ്മത്തിന്റെ അറ്റത്തേക്ക് വീണ്ടും ഒരിക്കലും അടുത്തുപോകരുത്.
