प्रजज्वाल नभो राजन् धूमायन्ते दिशो दश । न स्थातुमन्तरिक्षे च शेकुराकाशगास्तदा
prajajvāla nabho rājan dhūmāyante diśo daśa | na sthātum antarīkṣe ca śekur ākāśagās tadā ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ഹേ രാജാവേ! ആകാശം അഗ്നിപോലെ ജ്വലിച്ചു; പത്തു ദിക്കുകളും പുകകൊണ്ട് നിറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ആകാശത്തിൽ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നവർക്കുപോലും അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിൽ നിലകൊള്ളാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
