अम्बा तमब्रवीद् राजन्ननड्रशरपीडिता । नैवं वद महीपाल नैतदेवं कथंचन,राजन! यह सुनकर कामदेवके बाणोंसे पीड़ित हुई अम्बा शाल्वराजसे बोली --'भूपाल! तुम किसी तरह भी ऐसी बात मुहसे न निकालो। शत्रुसूदन! मैं भीष्मके साथ प्रसन्नतापूर्वक नहीं गयी थी। उन्होंने समस्त राजाओंको खदेड़कर बलपूर्वक मेरा अपहरण किया था और मैं रोती हुई ही उनके साथ गयी थी
ambā tam abravīd rājann anaṅgaśara-pīḍitā | naivaṁ vada mahīpāla naitad evaṁ kathaṁcana ||
അനംഗന്റെ അമ്പുകളാൽ പീഡിതയായ അംബ പറഞ്ഞു—“രാജാവേ, ഇങ്ങനെ പറയരുത്. ഭൂമിപാലാ, ഇത് യാതൊരു വിധത്തിലും അങ്ങനെ അല്ല. ഞാൻ ഭീഷ്മനോടൊപ്പം സന്തോഷത്തോടെയോ സ്വമേധയോ പോയതല്ല; കൂടിയിരുന്ന രാജാക്കളെ ഓടിച്ചുവിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം ബലമായി എന്നെ അപഹരിച്ചു, ഞാൻ കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം പോയി.”
