जलसंधो महातेजा राजन् रथवरस्तव । त्यक्ष्यते समरे प्राणान् माधव: परवीरहा
Jalasaṃdho mahātejā rājan rathavaras tava | tyakṣyate samare prāṇān Mādhavaḥ paravīrahā ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! മഹാതേജസ്സുള്ള ജലസന്ധൻ നിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിലെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠ രഥയോദ്ധാവാണ്. ശത്രുവീരസംഹാരിയായ ഈ മാധവൻ നിനക്കായി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പ്രാണം പോലും ത്യജിക്കും.
