जनौघसलिलावर्तो रथनागाश्चमीनवान् | शड्खदुन्दुभिनिर्धोष: कोशसंचयरत्नवान्
vaiśampāyana uvāca | janaugha-salilāvarto ratha-nāgāśva-mīnavān | śaṅkha-dundubhi-nirdhoṣaḥ kośa-saṃcaya-ratnavān, rājan |
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ, ആ മഹാജനസമൂഹം സമുദ്രത്തിലെ ചുഴലിയെപ്പോലെ തോന്നി; അതിനകത്ത് രഥങ്ങളും ഗജങ്ങളും അശ്വങ്ങളും മീനുകളെപ്പോലെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നതായി കണ്ടു. ശംഖധ്വനിയും ദുന്ദുഭികളുടെ മുഴക്കവും അതിന്റെ ഗർജ്ജനമായി; ശേഖരിച്ച നിധികൾ രത്നക്കൂമ്പാരങ്ങളായി നിന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെ സൈന്യസമൂഹ-ചന്ദ്രോദയത്തിൽ ദുര്യോധനരൂപ മഹാസമുദ്രമായ കുരുസേന ബലവും വൈഭവവും കൊണ്ട് പൊങ്ങി, ദീപ്തമായിരുന്നാലും വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന അനർത്ഥത്തിന്റെ സൂചനയായി പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.
