दुर्योधन निबोधेदं यत् त्वां वक्ष्यामि पुत्रक । तथा तत् कुरु भद्रें ते यद्यस्ति पितृगौरवम्,“बेटा दुर्योधन! मेरी यह बात सुन। तेरा कल्याण हो। यदि तेरे मनमें पिताके लिये कुछ भी गौरव है तो तुझसे जो कुछ कहूँ, उसका पालन कर
duryodhana nibodhedaṁ yat tvāṁ vakṣyāmi putraka | tathā tat kuru bhadraṁ te yady asti pitṛgauravam ||
മകനേ ദുര്യോധനാ! ഞാൻ പറയാൻ പോകുന്നതു ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു ഗ്രഹിച്ച് കേൾക്കുക. നിനക്കു മംഗളം വരട്ടെ. പിതാവിനോടുള്ള ഗൗരവം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ അല്പമെങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ, ഞാൻ കല്പിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നെ ചെയ്യുക.
