Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 130: Kuntī’s Instruction on Rājadharma and Daṇḍanīti
न्यमीलयन्त नेत्राणि राजानस्त्रस्तचेतस: । ऋते द्रोणं च भीष्मं च विदुरं च महामतिम्,समस्त रोमकूपोंसे सूर्यके समान दिव्य किरणें छिटक रही थीं। महात्मा श्रीकृष्णके उस भयंकर स्वरूपको देखकर समस्त राजाओंके मनमें भय समा गया और उन्होंने अपने नेत्र बंद कर लिये। द्रोणाचार्य, भीष्म, परम बुद्धिमान् विदुर, महाभाग संजय तथा तपस्याके धनी महर्षियोंको छोड़कर अन्य सब लोगोंकी आँखें बंद हो गयी थीं। इन द्रोण आदिको भगवान् जनार्दनने स्वयं ही दिव्य दृष्टि प्रदान की थी (अतः वे आँख खोलकर उन्हें देखनेमें समर्थ हो सके)

nyamīlayanta netrāṇi rājānas trastacetasaḥ |
ṛte droṇaṃ ca bhīṣmaṃ ca viduraṃ ca mahāmatim ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഭയത്തിൽ വിറച്ച രാജാക്കന്മാർ കണ്ണടച്ചു; ദ്രോണൻ, ഭീഷ്മൻ, മഹാമതിയായ വിദുരൻ എന്നിവരെ ഒഴികെ. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണന്റെ ആ ഭയാനക തേജസ്സിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ പലർക്കും ദൃഷ്ടി നിലനിർത്താനായില്ല; സ്ഥിരതയും ദിവ്യശേഷിയും ലഭിച്ചവർക്കുമാത്രമേ സത്യത്തിന്റെ ആ ജ്വാലയെ കണ്ണോടെ സഹിക്കാനായുള്ളൂ.
