अकालमृत्युर्विश्वासो विश्वसन्‌ हि विपद्यते । यस्मिन्‌ करोति विश्वासमिच्छतस्तस्य जीवति

akālamṛtyur viśvāso viśvasan hi vipadyate | yasmin karoti viśvāsam icchatas tasya jīvati ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—വിശ്വാസം അകാലമരണത്തോട് സമം; കാരണം എളുപ്പത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവൻ തീർച്ചയായും വിപത്തിൽപ്പെടുന്നു. അവൻ ആരിൽ വിശ്വാസം വെക്കുന്നു, അവരുടെ ഇച്ഛയ്ക്കനുസരിച്ചാണ് അവന്റെ ജീവൻ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നത്।
