आपद्धर्मे वैश्यवृत्तिः, विक्रय-निषेधाः, तथा ब्रह्म-क्षत्र-सम्बन्धः

यमाश्रित्य नरा राजन वर्तयेयुर्यथासुखम् । अनाथास्तप्यमानाश्व दस्युभि: परिपीडिता:
yam āśritya narā rājan vartayeyur yathāsukham | anāthās tapyamānāś ca dasyubhiḥ paripīḍitāḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ രാജാവേ! ആരുടെ ആശ്രയത്തിൽ ജനങ്ങൾ സുഖമായി ജീവിക്കാമോ, അവനാണ് യഥാർത്ഥ അഭയം നൽകുന്നവൻ. അനാഥരും ദുഃഖത്തിൽ കത്തുന്നവരും കള്ളന്മാരാൽ പീഡിതരുമായവർ അത്തരം രക്ഷകനെ സ്വന്തം ബന്ധുവെന്നപോലെ കരുതി സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ആദരിക്കണം; കാരണം, കുരുശ്രേഷ്ഠാ! ഭയമില്ലാതെ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ അപകടം നീക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നവനാണ് രാജോചിത ബഹുമതിക്ക് അർഹൻ.
