साधु क्षमा दम: शौचं वैराग्यं चाप्यमत्सर: । अहिंसा सत्यवचनं नित्यानि वनचारिणाम्‌,क्षमा, मन और इन्द्रियोंका संयम, बाहर-भीतरकी शुद्धि, वैराग्य, ईर्ष्याका अभाव, अहिंसा और सत्यभाषण--ये वनवासियोंके नित्य धर्म ही श्रेष्ठ हैं

sādhu kṣamā damaḥ śaucaṃ vairāgyaṃ cāpy amatsaraḥ | ahiṃsā satyavacanaṃ nityāni vanacāriṇām ||

യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ക്ഷമ, മനസ്സിന്റെയും ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളുടെയും സംയമനം, അകത്തും പുറത്തും ശുചിത്വം, വൈരാഗ്യം, അസൂയയില്ലായ്മ, അഹിംസ, സത്യവചനം—ഇവയാണ് വനവാസികളുടെ നിത്യധർമ്മങ്ങൾ; അവ തന്നെയാണ് ശ്രേഷ്ഠം.
