Educational Q&A

Rightly lived householder life becomes spiritually fruitful when grounded in (1) proper imparting of knowledge, (2) self-restraint, (3) compassionate benevolence toward beings, and (4) conduct aligned with established dharmic instruction.

In the Shanti Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma continues advising on dharma and right living; here he characterizes the ‘dhīra’ (steadfast person) whose disciplined and compassionate conduct qualifies him to attain the auspicious security and merit associated with the householder stage.
