शेषा: सृष्टा हान्तवन्तो हानन्ता: सप्रस्थानाः क्षात्रधर्मा विशिष्टा: । अस्मिन्‌ धर्मे सर्वधर्मा: प्रविष्टा- स्तस्माद्‌ धर्म श्रेष्ठमिमं वदन्ति,क्षात्रधर्म ही सबसे श्रेष्ठ है। शेष धर्म असंख्य हैं और उनका फल भी विनाशशील है। इस क्षात्रधर्ममें सभी धर्मोका समावेश हो जाता है, इसलिये इसी धर्मको श्रेष्ठ कहते हैं

Transliteration

śeṣāḥ sṛṣṭā hāntavanto hānantāḥ saprasthānāḥ kṣātradharmā viśiṣṭāḥ | asmin dharme sarvadharmāḥ praviṣṭās tasmād dharma śreṣṭham imaṁ vadanti |

Translation

ഇന്ദ്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു— മറ്റു ധർമ്മങ്ങൾ പലവിധമാണ്; അവയുടെ ഫലങ്ങൾ നശ്വരവുമാണ്. എന്നാൽ ക്ഷാത്രധർമ്മം വിശിഷ്ടം—ജീവൻ ത്യജിക്കലും ജീവൻ എടുക്കലും പോലുള്ള അപകടം ഏറ്റെടുത്ത് കര്‍മത്തിലേക്ക് പുറപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് അതിന്റെ സ്വഭാവം. ഈ ഒരേ ധർമ്മത്തിനുള്ളിൽ എല്ലാ ധർമ്മങ്ങളും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഇതിനെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠധർമ്മമെന്ന് പറയുന്നത്।
