राजधर्मप्रश्नः — Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry into Rājadharma (Śānti-parva 56)
प्रेष्प्माणा विकल्पन्ते गुह्मां चाप्पनुयुञ्जते । अयाच्य॑ चैव याचन्ते भोज्यान्याहारयन्ति च,वे जब किसी कार्यके लिये भेजे जाते हैं तो उसकी सिद्धिमें संदेह उत्पन्न कर देते हैं। राजाकी गोपनीय त्रुटियोंको भी सबके सामने ला देते हैं। जो वस्तु नहीं माँगनी चाहिये उसे भी माँग बैठते हैं, तथा राजाके लिये रक्खे हुए भोज्य पदार्थोंको स्वयं खा लेते हैं
preṣyamāṇā vikalpante guhyaṃ cāpy anuyuñjate | ayācyaṃ caiva yācante bhojyāny āhārayanti ca ||
ഒരു കാര്യം നിർവഹിക്കാൻ അയച്ചാൽ, അവർ അനാവശ്യ സംശയങ്ങൾ ഉയർത്തി അതിന്റെ വിജയത്തെ തന്നെ അനിശ്ചിതമാക്കുന്നു. രഹസ്യകാര്യങ്ങളിൽ കുത്തിനോക്കി രാജാവിന്റെ മറഞ്ഞ പിഴവുകൾ പോലും പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു. ചോദിക്കരുതാത്തതും ചോദിക്കുന്നു; രാജാവിനായി വെച്ച ഭക്ഷണവും തങ്ങളേത് കഴിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.
