Śānti Parva, Adhyāya 52 — Bhīṣma’s Humility Before Kṛṣṇa and the Granting of Boons
इमं च राजशार्दूल भूतग्रामं चतुर्विधम् । चक्षुर्दिव्यं समाश्रित्य द्रक्ष्यय्यमितविक्रम,अमितपराक्रमी नृपश्रेष्ठी]ी आप दिव्य दृष्टि पाकर स्वेदज, अण्डज, उद्धिज्ज और जरायुज--इन चारों प्रकारके प्राणियोंको देख सकेंगे
imaṃ ca rājaśārdūla bhūtagrāmaṃ caturvidham | cakṣurdivyaṃ samāśritya drakṣyasy amitavikrama ||
വായു പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ രാജശാർദൂലാ, അമിതപരാക്രമശാലീ! ദിവ്യദൃഷ്ടിയെ ആശ്രയിച്ച് നീ ജീവികളുടെ ഈ ചതുര്വിധ സമൂഹത്തെ കാണും—സ്വേദജം, അണ്ഡജം, ഉദ്ഭിജ്ജം, ജരായുജം.
वायुदेव उवाच
True understanding of the world requires refined perception: with ‘divine sight’ one comprehends the full range of living beings and the ordered diversity of creation, which supports a dharmic, non-confused view of life.
Vāyudeva addresses a king and promises that, by relying on divine vision, he will be able to directly perceive the entire community of beings classified into four traditional modes of birth—sweat-born, egg-born, sprout-born, and womb-born.
