कि पुनश्नात्मनो लोकानुत्तमानुत्तमैर्गुणै: । तदस्य तप्यमानस्य ज्ञातीनां संक्षयेन वै

ki punaśnātmano lokān uttamān uttamaiḥ guṇaiḥ | tad asya tapyamānasya jñātīnāṃ saṃkṣayeṇa vai

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“അപ്പോൾ, അത്യുത്തമ ഗുണങ്ങളാൽ ഒരാൾ സ്വന്തമായി നേടാവുന്ന പരമോന്നത ലോകങ്ങൾ എന്ത്? എന്നാൽ അവൻ പശ്ചാത്താപാഗ്നിയിൽ ദഹിക്കുമ്പോൾ, സ്വന്തം ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ നാശം മാത്രമേ തന്റെ ദുഃഖകാരണമെന്നു കരുതി വേദനിച്ചു.”
