Adhyāya 5 (Śānti-parva): Nārada’s account of Karṇa—Jarāsandha encounter and the causal grounds of Karṇa’s fall

स विकारं शरीरस्य दृष्टवा नृपतिरात्मन: । प्रीतो5स्मीत्यब्रवीत्‌ कर्ण वैरमुत्सृज्य दूरत:,राजा जरासंधने अपने शरीरके उस विकारको देखकर वैरभावको दूर हटा दिया और कर्णसे कहा--*मैं तुमपर बहुत प्रसन्न हूँ” इति श्रीमहाभारते शान्तिपर्वणि राजधर्मानुशासनपर्वणि कर्णवीर्यक थनं नाम पज्चमो<ध्याय:

sa vikāraṃ śarīrasya dṛṣṭvā nṛpatir ātmanaḥ | prīto ’smīty abravīt karṇa vairam utsṛjya dūrataḥ ||

തന്റെ ശരീരത്തിൽ വന്ന ആ മാറ്റം കണ്ട രാജാവ് ജരാസന്ധൻ വൈരം ദൂരെയാക്കി കര്‍ണനോട്—“ഞാൻ നിന്നിൽ പ്രസന്നനാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
